What Are Causes of Impotence?

There are many things than can cause impotence, because there are several events within the body that take place sequentially and a problem can happen at any stage. There are many parts of the body involved in causing an erection: the brain, spinal column, muscles, fibrous tissues, arteries and veins. If a part of the gets damaged, it can cause impotence. Some of the diseases that can cause problems are diabetes, alcoholism, vascular disease, neurological disease, kidney disease, and multiple sclerosis. About 70% of impotence is caused by one of these diseases.
 

One in every 10 men experience erectile dysfunction at some point in their lives. That is the fact that makes impotence a common problem among men.

It is noted that most impotence are psychologically rooted. That being said defines Psychosexual Therapy as perhaps the most widely accepted and utilized among other impotence treatments. The cause of impotence that is psychological in origin includes relationship difficulties and performance anxieties that can be professionally addressed with the help of trained counselors.

A cylindrical plastic called vacuum pump is placed over the penis and acts by stimulating pressure that compels blood flow to the penis similar to the mechanism of erection. After which, ring is positioned around the base of the penis to act by stopping the blood to drain quickly thus resulting to a sustained erection.

Side effects of medications taken for legitimate reasons can cause impotence. Drugs like for blood pressure, antidepressants, tranquilizers, antihistamines, appetite suppressants, can all have impotence as a potential side effect. Other forms of impotence are caused by lifestyle. For example, smoking, getting little exercise, and being overweight or obese can also cause impotence. Psychological factors also come into play when evaluating causes of impotence. Stress, guilt, depression, anxiety, fear of sexual failure, and low self-esteem are said to cause 10-20% of impotence cases.
